I don't know anything.

Been using a busted 18 speed since spring and I want to buy a quality bike. I'm thinking Cannondale Bad Boy. I know it's a dumb name but is this a bad idea?

I'm in the store and I asked if Cannondale bikes have better resale value than others (like the TREK SU) and the guy says to me "Cannondale's have terrible resale value and they always -- almost always crack in the welds."

Is this true? The price tag on the Cannondale is more than the TREK so why would he try to get me to buy the cheaper bike?
