Prendrefeu, if you think you might be interested in randonneuring and eventually doing PBP -- the next one doesn't happen until 2011 -- there will actually be a couple brevets held in Los Angeles in 2008. A 200K on January 12 and a 300K on February 2. I believe this is a new thing for that area -- I don't remember seeing any Los Angeles brevets in 2007.
