Tip:
I find it difficult to avoid the snacking impulse. That's why the only readily-edible foods I buy are fruits and veggies.
Snacking is a compulsive thing--it's very hard to go for seconds of a food when you have to cook it (because of the effort and because of the time you have to think about how you shouldn't be having seconds).
This tactic works for me, maybe it could help you.
