I made a decision today how I am going to approach the grocery store shopping dilemma... I need to preface this with the info that my bike is a folder. I stitched-up some 1" wide webbing today and made a strap that that hooks to the opposite ends of the folded bike and is just the right length to hang over the handle on most shopping carts.
This way I use the shopping cart in its intended fashion . . . and my bike goes along for the ride. Haven't tested it yet . . . but I don't see any problems mechanically or PC-wise.

folders tend to fall into a slightly different category with regards to bringing into stores etc. I've walked my folder through airports, shopping malls and other spaces where I might not bring a full size bike.
