LOL! I used to use cloth tape, because that's all there was. It's interesting to hear decades later that's it's supposed to actually have some advantages. I'll keep my cork-based tape any day. I don't see any advantage whatsoever to using cloth tape. Oh, and if you happen to use Campy shifters or you use bar-ends, cloth tape isn't going to cover the cables very well. The wonders of internet nostalgia never cease.
