We had a great time, but other than Mike and Rich I have no idea who these guys are. Mike hooked us up with their group; Evidently he found them over at Classic Rendezvous. Apparently, they do at least one vintage ride a month, and they usually have some sort of theme. This one was "French", hence the Herses, Gitanes, and Singers. The gate crashers (me, Rich, and Mike) showed up with Swiss, English, and Japanese steel, respectively. And one of the interlopers had the nerve to dress out his vintage frame with modern Campy. Barbarian. Uncouth, boorish lout. But we managed to get past that and have fun, anyway.
The ride itself was through the farmland and vineyards of Livermore Valley, and was comprised of a loop of ~35 miles and maybe 1,000' of climbing total. There was a little bit of wind, an abundance of sunshine, a delightful lunch at a local winery, great conversation, and a whole lot of good fun.
