Me. I need a 1/8" BMX chain.
LBS guy: What for?
Me: For my fixed gear.
LBS guy: You can't use that kind of chain on a 3-speed.
Me: Not a three speed, a singlespeed that needs a 1/8" chain.
LBS guy: No, it won't work with a deraileur, you need a 3-speed chain.
Me: What? Why don't you just sell me the chain?
LBS: I can't do that, because it won't work.
