Got to get a good whip though. I once bought a flimsy Park model. I think it was designed for holding cassettes while removing lockrings, not for fixed cogs.

I find it helpfull to wear gloves and to have the wheel rolled against a wall while on the floor. If that fails I put the whip in a vise.
