Strobe light recommendation

In my commute I don't really have much distance where I'd like to light up the world. For the majority of the distance I get either street lights or car lights. My current Cateye seems adequate. I would feel safer, however, if I was better seen from the front. Some people are using a white strobe on the front. This can catch your attention. I'm afraid my Cateye is light the just gets lost in the noise so I'm thinking about adding a strobe as well.

Any recommendations on a light that would be used as simply a strobe and not intended to light the path? I know there are several that have a strobe feature but some are brighter than others. Any experience on a similar application you could share? I don't want to waste the time and money to buy something that can strobe only to find out it isn't bright. I'd also not like to spend $300 if I don't need to.

Thanks.
