I knew he had you when you wrote, "Man, this really rubs me the wrong way..." I'd just posted that I drive a small fuel efficient car at moderate speeds on cruise control and yet his post had me almost respond exactly as you did and I had to restrain my fingers from typing a lengthy diatribe in response to his post.
Yeah, BF is full of them but they can be great fun if you don't take them too seriously!
Heh... I just put 'em on ignore anyway. It's a short list -- only four members -- but it's four more than I've had on any other single forum.
Besides, the "really rubs me the wrong way" bit was only triggered by that crusader attitude of his. My beefs with bad drivers have only escalated since I moved to DC. Lots of them are actually OK, but like salt on a slug, it only takes a few to start screwing things up for everyone else.
After checking his other posts like you mentioned, I see why he's so clueless. After all the time I've spent behind the wheel delivering pizzas, driving on every surface from farmland MMR's to broken New Orleans pavement (even before Katrina it was horrible) to glassy-smooth rain-slicked sheet ice, sitting in gridlock or cruising with semi trucks at 3 AM, I can comfortably say that I'm just a bit more qualified to talk about driving cars than he is.
