Getting back to the OP's question, I don't drive as much as I used to, mostly because I really hate traffic. I can't imagine sitting in stop-and-go traffic all the time. Do I drive slower, or forget how to drive properly? No and no. In fact, my driving habits are pretty much the same as always, and have tended to inform my cycling. I work very hard to ride at the speed of traffic when necessary. This means lots of sprinting. I stop at stop signs and red lights, I don't jump lights and I don't tailgate. I take the lane whenever I feel it's appropriate, but that also means I feel the need to ride within 5 km/h of traffic speed, which isn't always possible.

There are enough people out there who are apparently "re-learning" how to drive - I don't need to be one of them.
