The driver saw me at the last moment and stopped a few feet away but I'm sure if I hadn't had that light on my bike he/she wouldn't have seen me and I'd be posting a crash report right now. I was probably going 17-18mph and I don't think I would have been able to stop or maneuver out of the way if that driver hadn't stopped. I did grab a handfull of front brake and swerved to the right so I'm sure I would have just been bruised up a bit but even a light hit can destroy a carbon fiber bike.
I also saw a guy I've seen riding on this road a few times a little earlier. He's an older guy, like me, on an upright steel bike with rear rack and fenders. He was wearing jeans and a dark blue sweat shirt...no lights...no helmet. He was sticking to the far right side of the road and was going quite a bit slower then I was though. I caught up to him at a light and nodded hello to him. I'll have to ask him if he's commuting next time, he was in the far right side of the right turn only lane (even though he was going straight) and I was in the bike lane so there was a car between us. I'm sure he thought I looked like a dork in my tights and helmet with blinkies front and rear.

I don't care though. I'm having fun.
Glad you're OK.
Which Dinotte model do you use? And, do you have it mounted on the bars or on your helmet?
I just ordered the 600L (600 lumens, LED) model, and look forward to mounting it on my helmet (so I can easily switch from bike to bike). It should get here this weekend, and it's good to know it has the candlepower to get a driver's attention.
