I'm going to post this question in the cx forum as well, but basically I am looking to build a bombproof touring wheelset that can double as a bombproof cx wheelset. since this wheelset will be serving on two different frames, i can sort of justify using some pretty nice components. What do people recommend? I'm about 150lbs, so I was just going to use 36 spokes, and was lusting after some phil wood hubs, but other than that, I have no leads. I'm particularly curious about rims. Any good, solid, but not too heavy rims that could take loaded touring and hard knocks on douglas fir roots? thanks!
