Im going to say dont. I've worked at a shop for a few years and there are a few things I have noticed. First, every custom bike we build (besides mine) has been campy record/chorus. Second, these bikes have 20k+ miles on the components and all we have changed out are chains and 1 rear derailer (35K miles on it).
Campy components are built better, and although you pay more for it, you do get what you pay for.
Also, somethign to keep in mind: Campy drive trans work with shimano chainrings/cranks. We have a customer with a trek 5200 with record and dura-ace crank and he has never had a problem. I dont see any reason why you cant use a sram/fsa/shimano SRM crank with a campy bike
