For many years now, I have understood that I feel like utter crap when I eat anything with a high glycemic index. I can do it before a ride, but no other time. I have reactive hypoglycemia, in other words, my insulin output is high after carbs (even a tiny amount). I stay away from carbs, period. No bread, no croutons, no pasta, no beans, no rice, no high gly anything at all. Even apples give me trouble.
Uncooked veggies and fish do very well with my situation. Slow to digest, no insulin reaction.
Docs put me on a diet that sucks, I gain weight, feel like crap and it simply does not work for me.
Lean and mean is the way I am going to go.
