Let's see, my '87 is OO### and your Record is EE### and this red bike is DD###.
Maybe ther is a pattern here with years to Letters of serial #?
If enough people reply we might get a good idea of the frames year.
Didn't Montellos first appear around '85?
Since you are refinishing it anyways this is what I have done to mine so far.
Took bunches of pictures regarding decals though I think yours might not be original.
Drilled out the rivets that hold on the head badge and set it aside.
Used some paint stripper from any home center and removed all the paint.
In my case the rear triangle hadn't been painted on it was still original chrome.
If they didn't rough it up yours might look beautiful beneath the paint too.
My whole frame is chromed but the factory sandblasted the painted areas so I will have to repaint all the original spots.
Curious just what lies beneath that red paint.
