If I had the money and had to buy a hardtail this year I would get an 07 Stumpjumper Comp, the discount price should be somewhere in the $1,200 range.
I'll probably end up getting either an '07 or '08 GF HiFi, but I tested out a 26er '08 Stumpjumper Comp and I thought it was amazing. VERY light and agile. I wish I could find a leftover '07 for a discount.
