However, since starting to road bike - mostly alone - I have met the nicest guys - unfortunately no women yet - on my rides, generally riding and chatting for miles up a canyon road. So, try expecting a friendly response when passing or being passed. And I'm riding a vintage RADAC 2000 with SPD shoes and a big astronaut sized helmet - plenty fodder for mockery. If no friendly overture is made, whatever....
