Somehow I acquired a pair of these chapak rear panniers:

They are no longer avail in the US as far as I can tell. In my first few months, both red center clips broke, and also 2 of the black edge clips (at the top there are 2 black clips at the end, and one center clip). The LBS I picked them up at brought in another pair and gave me parts from them, so as far as I know there are 2 black clips left in the US as spares. The panniers have zipped pockets in the fold down flap, and both of those zippers gave out early in life too (I think these have had ~3 yrs of daily use now).
In function they are very similar to ortlieb rollers, except for the flap that folds over the top, and a few extra zippered compartments. The fastening (to the rack) system is similar also, but not as slick (I do have one ortlieb pannier, but the apparently slick pull-the-handle-to-release thing is pretty gummed up w/ road grit so I still need to pull each clip of those individually after all). The guy at a different LBS that only sells ortliebs thought he preferred ortliebs to what I had because they were simpler, fewer parts to break, and in hindsight I would say he's correct, I wish I had gone for ortliebs even though they were pricier. Still, at the rate these have been decaying, I am going to live with them for a long long time before I can justify retiring them on functional grounds.
