How hard to switch from triple to double?
I'm looking at some bikes on bikesdirect and talking to a few people about gently used bikes, and almost all of these bikes have triples in front. If I switched to a double, would I have to change shifters, or would I merely have a ghost click in the shifter, or would the shifter spacing be inadequate to work with a double? We're generally talking 105 or Ultegra parts.
A few years back I changed my RSX triple to a 100 double, and have ever since used a downtube on the left side because the spacing on the RSX left STI was too narrow - I'd only get three of my seven gears without grinding.
So would this be the problem again? i have a feeling I just need to buy a double . . .
