How will the people around me affect my retirement?

Pretty much not at all. I'm a introvert by nature and don't enjoy much socializing. I might do something with friends about 5-6 times a year. And those events never cost much. The only two social events I've ever gone to in my life that cost me more than $100 were two of my daughters' weddings.
