I ride both modern and vintage bikes regularly, and for distance. The only thing I can state with "utmost" confidence is that you can get a "twitchy" bike or a "comfortable" bike from either category. It has nothing to do with being vintage or not - it's a useless comparison.
You've been making the comparison yourself, and others have too; and it's been quite useful.
