The fact that I want them to be heavy duty without being too heavy coupled with the disk usage and the extra forces generated at the hub make these seem like a good choice but I don't want to negate this benefit by using spokes that don't fit well enough to maximize the benefit.
I have built many wheels with DT Competition spokes and M756 hubs, and the spoke heads fit about the same as the Alpine III shown in your pictures. None have ever broken.
