Derailleurs? Yeah, there is a huge leap there.
Could be, some of the pricing is way different in Europe but I would be surprised to see much of a difference between the US and Canada. Unless you guys have socialised cycling?

Using QBP for a reference(And wholesale pricing because retail can vary greatly),... Wait. Earlier I used the paper catalog, now I am using their online catalog, the pricing has changed. D/A and Record have the same wholesale price and Ultegra is a bit cheaper than Chorus. This is just for the shifters, on just about everything else Campy is quite a bit more expensive.
