Provided that you can spread the bars away enough to accomodate the length of your bike, you should be able to fit in your recumbent. This works for tandems.

I must be losing it!!!!!!! They make roof mounts like that, but with the channel on it, that have an extension to accomodate tandems. That would be perfect for a recumbent.
