Not really because different zones yield different results. I was doing 5x5's today at LT. That is obviously not to failure as I wanted different benefits than to increase neuro power.

Now to the HRM vs PM. I like my PM because my HR never matches up unless I am in Z1. Todays workout was a total of 26 minutes in Z4 but my HR was mainly in Z2. My coach prescribed an interval workout at Z4 HR. If I was only going by HR, I theoretically would never have met the goal since I would have had to push myself much harder to meet the HR requirements.
