That's what I'd do (and have done).

Right turners that are potential colliders don't often take so much space that they'd turn over the center line so that's where i'd go for space. Sometimes, I'd be splitting the lane with oncoming trffic.

The most common driver error in collisions between cyclists and motorists (in BC) is failure to yeild right of way and I've had this happen quite few times. More times are not when I'm giving the driver Brian Ratliffs' "WTF gesture, yelling, and general gesturing are also available to me", the drivers are suprised. Gives more credence to Hursts commentary on eye contact comment with drivers in his book. (Do you like Pina Coladas?...Getting caught in the rain?...)

*re-reading the options gives me pause to re-consider. If I were to go around the right turner on the left because of an iminent collision, I shouldn't have to speed up. If I had to speed up, that would indicate the right turner may have had enough room to make his turn without do anything more than having me minorly inconvienienced. That's the give and take of the road.*
