Get gloves, three pairs:

* Long finger, but no insulation.
* Thin liners to put under the long finger gloves for optional insulation.
* Short finger.

Don't ever ride without gloves. If you get nailed by a car and skid on your side you are likely to leave your knuckles on the tarmac.
