At the same time, some of the modern padded tractor saddles that come on upright bikes are pretty darn comfortable. I've got a Schwinn 7 speed cruiser with a big padded saddle and it might actually be more comfortable than my old B-67 I had on a cruiser for years.

It's a tossup, I'd get the Brooks for sure if you are interested in pimping your ride.
