The problem I do have with many roadies on their expensive bikes is that, for the most part, its obvious that they don't commute on them. They have these bikes and see them as just a hobby or just for fun. I don't give props to squids who go out cycling on their lunch breaks and then drive their gas-suckers to and from work.

From that POV I would agree with you. I feel that if you drive a big ass truck just for the sake of driving a big ass truck is unessesary. I felt the previous coments were more based on the ability of someone to pay for Hummer than the evironmental concerns, that is seperate issue. I do however dissagree with the attitude that just because someone used their bike as a hobby that is wrong. I ride for many reasons, to stay fit, to relive stress, and because it makes me happy. I've never been in situation where commuting on a bike was going to work out for me. So instead I've just car pooled or took the train. The bike serves many uses and they are different for each of us.
