I've definitely heard all sides. Things weighing heavily is a lot of research that has turned up sub par results on MD schools, and that's an unacceptable answer for us. Fairfax Cty schools are hitting all the right marks, so we've focused there and looking at basically everywhere from Mt Vernon to Reston w/in bike commuting distance (access to Metro/VRE helps).

I'll definitely be making my way to Haines Pt (probably the day or two after we get into town - since we're staying in Ft Myer temp lodging and the bike is coming with me on the plane - of course) I've _almost_ accepted that my intensity time will be lunches there and I'll get all my seat time in back and forth to work. But, I'm also used to roads in Japan where traffic is pretty bad so I'll be curious to get the bike rider's point of view on the traffic there.
