The key to good interval training is during the interval don't focus on trying to last for the specified time. Focus on trying to give all your energy away during the specified time (big difference) and occasionally you should come up a few seconds short. That difference will keep you from spending a lot of time between the pack and the break and will train you to bridge quickly and decisively.
