Bikes: Surly Pugsley, Jamis Renegade, Kona Rove, Salsa Pistola, Raleigh M60, Raleigh Sport Touring Team USA

Please tell us your age. 55

1. What type of bikes do 50+ folks ride?

Have old Raleigh M60 21 speed rigid mountain bike and old Raleigh 12 speed road bike with Team USA logo (age and origin unknown).

2. Do you take any special supplements/vitamins/minerals as you have grown older?

Use multivitamin for men over 50.

3. How much do you feel you have "slowed down" if any?

I have "slowed down" over the past 30 years with knee and back problems. Gave up running, soccer, tennis and racquetball.

4. How long have you been biking? New, around a while, biked all your life?

I've been an off and on again cyclist my whole life. Rode for transportation as a teen, to classes in college and then took up road biking for about three years in the early 1980s. Some commuting in Atlanta, London and Ciudad Juarez and DC. This time I've been actively cycling for two and a half years with a ride most weekends.

5. What type of biking do you do? Long rides, touring, short rec rides, commute, tour, race?

Since September I've been a daily commuter (just over ten miles a day on a bike path). I also enjoy longer rides on days off and weekends. Ive just moved back to the US and haven't joined any of the regular rides of the local bike clubs.

6. How often do you bike? Your approximate annual mileage?

I'm riding daily for my commute. I also try to get in a longer ride at least two time a month. For 2007 I'll hit about 2200 miles. 2006 when I wasn't commuting and just riding on weekends I put in about 1800 miles.

7. Do you do any other type of physical activities - weight lifting, skiing, running, etc.?

I walk, hike and enjoy cross country skiing when there is snow. Would swim more if pool locations and times were more convenient.
I also use a semi-recumbent stationary bicycle when I'm unable to get outdoors to ride.
