That is strange. I use 2006 Trek 520 for commuting (20 to 40 miles daily depending on time, weather, and my mood.) and club rides, be it a little heavy for the later. It feels very smooth and comfy to me. It is also bone stock right down to the OEM Bontrager tires.
Just so you know the 520 is only one out of 15 bikes in my stable.
Oh well different strokes for different folks.
