Ski gloves should be designed for holding onto ski poles and should have a somewhat thin palm area. I haven't looked at snow boarding gloves, but I would imagine that they would be designed with a thicker insulated palm area since the application is different.
I personally use XC ski gloves by Swix. The thin leather palm area and nose wipe area on the thumb are what influenced my decision. A lot of cross country ski gear is usefull for biking in winter.
