I started cycling in February with a Team in Training group of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I had never really ridden all that much, and what I had done was alone. I had never participated in group or team rides.
In March I was car doored, breaking my right index finger (I'm right handed) cleanly, having my right upper arm sliced open in a deep wound that required 14 stitches, had 2 pins placed in my finger and then removed 4 seeks later, and lost 5 weeks of mid-season training time.
Completed my first century, the America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride around Lake Tahoe, CA/NV, in a ridiculous time of 10+ hours, on June 3rd.
Completed my second century, the 109 mile El Tour De Tucson, on November 17th, in a more respectable time of 7:36:59.
I had minor knee surgery on November 26th to clean up some meniscus debris.
I purchased my first Tri bike the other day - will go get fitted and bring it home today. I hope to do a number of centuries in 2008, and my first, maybe more, triathlon in 2008 as well.
I started out 50 years old and weighing 280 pounds. I am now 51 and 255 pounds. I plan to continue losing weight through riding, running and swimming.
I anticipate 2008 be a wonderful year.
Happy Holidays and New year to each and every one of you.
Sincerely,
Brian
