This whole high-tech bike craze is stupid and arguably unfair to the athletes. It has become the battle of technologies more than battle of humans. Bring on the keirin. It is about time olympic committe impose stringest rules on the weight, aerodynamics etc. to make the playing field even (and I am talking of all the bikers in poor countries who could very well be better bicyclists, and who cannot afford these monstrocities).

Gotta disagree with you there. I'd rather see less control by governing bodies to allow for more Graham Obree-esque designs and atheletes in cycling. I think restrictions to design and equipment are bad for cycling. Sometimes I think the UCI wishes it would have stopped the progression of bicycle design with the penny farthing. Don't get me wrong, I love my classic lugged steel bikes, but I'd also like to see more unknowns setting world records on bikes they built with parts from washing machines.
