Whereabouts in Central MA? There's a decent MUP that runs 11+ miles from Ayer, MA to Nashua (with a nice stopping place in Pepperell and a number of places along the way to park to make the trip shorter if need be. Got to agree with the narrow road thing, but if you plan routes carefully you should be able to do short suitable trips for him.
