FEA is for wussy. FBD is simple enough to solve the problem. Thank God I am too drunk to attempt a solution at this point though. Didn't read it all, but any loading condition that reduces the tension differential between both sides, and prevents unloading of the NDS spokes is will last longer.

Discussing failure modes at that point is like discussing what exit route you will take when the building you are in explodes.
