I suppose this could go into the commuting section, but I never seem to post there...anyways, a friend sent me this link to see if I had heard of this proposed tax credit for people who bike to work.
I hadn't heard about and I am not sure what has become of the bill to which this is attached, but I will see if I can find out.
To keep this C&V oriented, I do bike to work on my old Schwinn Traveler every once in a while and I plan to use the Peugeot now that I have a new set of wheels that use clinchers (I will save the tubulars for special rides).

right/left politics and who is gonna win the presidency aside (i.e. lets not get into all that) will such a credit spur more commuting on bikes, especially C&V bikes?
It is about 22 miles from my house to campus; I average about 24 mpg in my Toyota, so a little less than a gallon of gas each way, plus a $0.25 toll each way. Thus with gas at $3.27 per gallon it is costing me about $6.50 (in round numbers) per day times 5 equals $32.50 per week to commute.
I wonder if a tax credit would encourage me and others to commute by bike more often?
