Assuming that you don't make it up ever hill, you may want a little traction to help you get up it. Gummy treaded hikers do a great job at this. Just remember, the steeper the hill, the more likely you're going to be walking up it. This is exactly where you do not want to be wearing flatso skate shoes.

PS, and you can hike in them too.
