A quick though on off the bike shoes: I just got a pair of Crocs (I detested them until I tried a pair out). They're lighter than anything (flip-flops included) out there. They weigh almost nothing. Comfort? Way, way comfy. Since they're closed cell foam of some type—they don't soak up water. Wear them in iffy showers and bathrooms. Dry them with a tissue if you want. They're easily cleaned. They're, well... not quite ugly if you get a decent non-obnoxious color (I got a very light grey). My off bike shoe of choice now, with no competition in sight. Three years ago they could be had for $5. Now they're $29. I'll keep my flip flops, sure, but they won't be touring with me.
