I was told by an Sram rep that, unlike Shimano, all the Sram brifters are repairable - you can replace individual parts within them. Have you tried that?
The shop owner spoke with the rep, and was told that although they were repairable, they were out of parts and are sending a replacement. That they are supposed to be repairable was a major factor in changing to it. I would have considered campy but wanted to remain compatible with all my other stuff.
