[QUOTE=mrt10x;5918974]Ok so the Pinarello Montello showed up last night. Overall I am very pleased with the condition of the bike. The chrome is outstanding and the paint is very nice with the occasional chip, as to be expected. Looks like Campy C-Record components??? totaling guessing from a quick google search. The big question is will I be able to replace the rear derailleur and shifter with the correct one? Did they shave off the lever mount to put the Shimano 600 on? Also are the handlebars period correct and of the level of the rest of the group?
Pics posted with just a quick build up last night. Have not really set the bike up or cleaned and polished it properly.
I have a new set of stickers coming, although with the exception of the right seat tube sticker, they are in pretty good shape. Oh and the missing Montello sticker on the right side of the top tube. Thoughts and comments appreciated..new to this steel and campy thing.

Your crankset, hubs, and FD are C-record. I'd look for nothing less than a C-record rear derailleur. You have a fairly narrow range cluster, so I'd expect the Campy shifting performance to be real good.
I have a few Shimano 600 RDs, the 6207 series, and I do not like their shifting at all, even compared to a Nuovo Record. I would DEFINITELY go for the Campy. I've found old-school shifting with grabby freewheels like Shimano 600 or DuraAce or Sachs ARIS result in very easy shifting, creating a sort of "who needs indexing" feeling. My rationale for this "breach of purity" is that freewheels and chains are wear items, and one orten had to replace with the best available back in the day. Same story for rims, IMO.
C-record platform pedals are very beautiful and comfortable. There's a Chorus of the same vintage that looks similar but nowhere near as beautiful. I'd keep this bike pure, it's a stunner.
There are a number of shift levers out on the market that look a lot like C-record but are not - you might want to be careful about what you buy. Your left lever looks exactly right in terms of finish - try to get a right lever that matches it.
