Agreed! I tried to explain this to my wife, who was complaining that her front wheel-mounted odometer didn't register when she was on the trainer...I don't think she appreciated my explanation!

I track my intervals by time...but I track my bike rides by distance. Because the goals are different: Intervals are a tool to improve performance; cycling is a way to achieve an infinite number of other goals in addition to athletic performance.
