One more question... the current rear cog is a seven speed, will a 1st generation C Record derailleur work.. I thought it was six speed?
Those are friction shifters and they don't care how many gears you have as long as the derailleur is physically capable of swinging the distance from one end to the other. In this case it can with ease. No problem.
