They are not completely smooth/flat on the inside, but rather a small 'speed bump' along the inner edge. Maybe I'll put 90psi in them and take them around the block till either one blows or I get tired of going in circles. but first I am going to go to the LBS and get some new rim strips that are not as wide as what was on it. I think they were filling some of what ridge there is to hold the bead. Perhaps making a less than favorable situation worse.
Oh, think I failed to mention, not only did the rear blow out on me this afternoon destorying on tire, but when I went back into the study later this evening I found the front tire had pulled loose of the rim along a 4" length and was pushed up against the brake arm. Had it happened elsewhere along the rim, it would have probably continued to push free and eventually blow. I think I had about 100-105psi in the tubes when I left the apartment on the ride.
