I wouldn't say the frame would be considered "heavy" at 1179 grams. I mean how many frames are truely sub 1000g? Since I didn't weigh the frame bare, it could be lighter or heavier, but that is the average weight for the 55cm. Some have been as light as 1080g, some at 1210g (and everything inbetween). My bike weighed 18.92 pounds untouched when it was new. All the components on it were pretty heavy. Replacing just the wheels, tires, tubes, stem, handlebars, seat post and fork alone cut 1237g (or 2.72 pounds) from my bike. That's before I added any weight weenie parts.
I'll try and take a pic of it on the hanging scale next time I'm at the LBS.
