I remember the shock I felt when I boarded a plane from Oklahoma to San Francisco and found the plane was being diverted to Ontario. Ontario, California, USA that is. A few dozen miles east of Los Angeles. The "Inland Empire" is the growth spill-over from Los Angeles that spilled into Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Shake and Bake country pierced by the San Andreas and other faults and a lot hotter then cities on the coast.

San Timeteo canyon and the ride out to Cajon Pass were my favorites in that area.
