The reason I chose the Shimano is from what I have seen, it is a better internal design. The Sturmey's may suddenly shift into neutral in high gear, supposedly this is not possible with the shimano design. I'd like to be able to stand up in any gear so I went with shimano. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I found while surfing about.

As for the coaster, It's my attempt to keep things as simple as possible. With the coaster there's no cable, no lever, and it's already part of the hub, simple as can be. I may or may not run a front brake, probably will, since I'm a pilot and we like our back-ups.
